Blackcat Families,

As previously announced Mexia ISD is opening from Spring Break tomorrow, March 16th as originally scheduled.  We do this in line with Center for Disease Control advice to schools under: Interim Guidance for Administrators of US K-12 Schools and Childcare Programs (

We will be opening with new procedures to help mitigate spread of the Corona Virus. If you are concerned about having your child at school or someone in your household is at high risk, please keep your student at home. As normal, please keep your child home if they are sick. I ask you to please call your school tomorrow and let them know your situation. There is no penalty for non-attendance due to this current situation.

The District will be taking every precaution to distance students during this time and avoid large gatherings. One location we cannot control are our school buses. They are being disinfected every night and we will do everything possible to keep students apart while on the bus. However, if you have a concern regarding this location, please drop and pick up your student at school or you may wish to keep your student at home.

During this time staff will be making arrangements for at-home instruction if the district needs to close in the future. Also, we are making arrangements for the continuation of food service.

Campus websites and social media feeds will have specific information for each campus. We take this situation seriously and invite you to let us serve your student during this time, and as noted above, we will not be penalizing for non-attendance.

Lyle DuBus, Ed.D.
