RETURN TO LEARN PLAN
The A.B McBay Campus Site Based Committee, along with input from various teachers and staff worked together in creating processes and procedures so that we provide as much detail as possible for a safe start to the new school year. As we are in uncharted territory, we will be revising these processes often and make the necessary changes as needed. Faculty and staff will model appropriate practices at the start of school to ensure safe practices are established for all. Below are the procedures for our day to day operations:
ALL staff and students will have their temperature checked upon arrival each day. School doors will be open starting at 7:00 a.m. The location of arrival for bus riders will be the cafeteria door. The location of arrival for canopy riders will be at the canopy door on the right side of the building. Once their temperature is screened, they may enter the building. Students, prek-kindergarten, who arrive at this time will wait in the cafeteria spaced 6 ft apart. Students, grades 1-2, will wait in the gym spaced six feet apart. Staff will be in the set locations to provide support and ensure social distancing. At 7:15 the students will go inside their rooms and we will have educational activities for them to do provided by ACE. Breakfast will be served at 7:45 in the classroom. Parents and students will not be permitted to leave their vehicles until a staff member arrives to screen the student. If a student walks to school, they will be escorted by an assigned staff member once that student reaches the school grounds. Family members will not be permitted to walk the student up to the building.
The CDC considers a person to have a fever when he or she has measured temperature of 100.4°F (38°C). Anyone whose temperature reads this or above will be sent home. Parents of bus riders will be contacted immediately to schedule pick up and parents of canopy riders will be informed on the premises that their child cannot be permitted to come to school.
Students will be dismissed from their classrooms as necessary. Dismissal for prek will begin at 3:20. Kindergarten students will begin to prepare for dismissal at 3:40. Students in grade 1-2 will begin dismissal at 3:45.
If your child rides canopy, you will pick them up in the canopy line on the right side of the building. When you get in line we will call your student and staff will be in the hallways to ensure social distancing. We will only call 3-5 students at a time in order to minimize close contact. Please be patient as we adjust to this new process, it will take the students some time to walk from their rooms out the doors. We will get them to you as quickly as we can, but safety is our main priority.
If your child is riding the bus, the students on the first two busses will be called down to the cafeteria first, and asked to sit in assigned spaces, with social distancing enforced. As we load a bus, we will call another down to wait.
We will not have lunch in the cafeteria. The students' lunches will be delivered to their rooms, and they will eat there. Pre-k lunch time will be 10:30-11:00 a.m.. Kindergarten lunch time will be 11:40-12:10 a.m. First grade lunch time will be 12:15-12:45 p.m. Second grade lunch time will be 12:45 -1:15 p.m. If at any time in the school year we reopen the cafeteria, we will contact you and let you know.
In order to keep all students safe, no parents will be allowed to drop off food for their students or eat in the cafeteria or classroom with their students. Also, no students may bring food that needs to be heated, we will not have a way to heat food inside the classrooms.
Students who are enrolled in at home learning will still have the opportunity to come pick up a lunch daily at the McBay Canopy, time to be determined.
