Mexia ISD Names Mr. Brad Andrews as New Superintendent

Mexia, Texas — The Mexia Independent School District Board of Trustees has officially named Mr. Brad Andrews as Superintendent of Schools for Mexia ISD, effective February 20, 2026, following the required 21-day waiting period under Texas law.

Mr. Andrews has faithfully served Blackcat Nation since 2021 and previously held the position of Deputy Superintendent. Since October 2025, he has successfully led the district as Interim Superintendent, providing steady leadership and a clear focus on unity and student success.

“Mr. Andrews has demonstrated a deep commitment to our students, staff, and community,” said the Mexia ISD Board of Trustees. “His leadership experience, strong relationships, and dedication to excellence make him the right choice to lead Mexia ISD into the future.”

Mr. Andrews began his career in education in 1997, starting in coaching — a role that continues to reflect his heart for mentorship and student development. Over the course of more than 20 years in Waxahachie Independent School District, he served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal, gaining comprehensive experience at multiple levels of school leadership.

He joined Mexia Independent School District in 2021 as Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Information & Technology. In 2023, he was promoted to Deputy Superintendent, where he has played a key role in advancing district initiatives and strengthening operational systems.

Since stepping into the Interim Superintendent role in October 2025, Mr. Andrews has centered his leadership platform on positive student outcomes, establishing a clear vision for excellence, and fostering unity among leadership and staff. His collaborative approach and student-focused mindset have earned the trust and confidence of the board and community.

Mr. Andrews earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and his master’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He holds certifications in secondary history, kinesiology, principal, and superintendent.

“It is an incredible honor to serve as Superintendent of Mexia ISD,” said Mr. Andrews. “Blackcat Nation is a special community, and I am committed to building on our strengths, supporting our staff, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed. Together, we will continue pursuing excellence in everything we do.”
