Good Afternoon Blackcat Parents,
This is a reminder that Mexia ISD will be closed this Thursday & Friday. We are also closed next Monday (April, 8, 2024) for the Total Solar Eclipse. A big thank you goes out to Gibbs Memorial Library for providing all MISD students with eclipse viewing glasses. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable extended weekend!

Mexia Independent School District is in the process of accepting nominations for students who would benefit from the special instructional techniques provided by its Gifted and Talented program. Student nominations from parents, teachers and community members will be accepted from March 4th through March 25th. If you know of a student in grades K through 12 whom you believe “performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment academically,” you are encouraged to nominate that student to be assessed for possible placement in the Gifted and Talented program. Student nomination forms are available in each of the campus offices. These forms must be picked up and returned to the campus no later than March 25th. Forms will not be accepted after March 25th. For nominated students who have parental approval, testing will occur during the semester. Students who qualify in grades 1-12 will be placed in the program during the next school year. Please contact your child’s principal or counselor for more information.

It's Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day!!! Mexia ISD has the BEST Maintenance Department across the state of TEXAS!!!!! Go hug your maintenance worker today and let them know what a vital role they play in the success of our kids.

Good Morning Blackcats!
Exciting plans are already underway for the 2024-2025 school year! Below is a list of several internal promotions; they showcase some of the talented employees we have in Mexia ISD. These personnel moves will be highly beneficial to our district.
* Mr. Marcus Wilson will transition to Principal of Mexia High School. For the remainder of this school year, Mr. John Turpin will serve as the Interim Principal.
* Mrs. Jozette Jenkins will transition to Director of Special Education
* Mrs. Chimere Conner will transition to Principal of Developmental Center
* Mrs. Belinda Cotton will transition to Principal of RQ Sims
* Mr. Eric Shamblin will transition to central office in the Business and Finance Office as our new Coordinator of Procurement, Capital Assets and Inventory Management
* Mrs. Amanda Wilson will transition to Assistant Principal of Mexia Junior High
Each of these employees will finish the 2023-2024 school year in their current roles. With the promotion of these individuals, we will need assistant principals at McBay, Sims, and the High School for 2024-2025. If you or someone you know are interested in joining this great group of leaders, applications will be available on the Mexia ISD website.
Exciting things are already happening in our district and I am looking forward to the great work these individuals add to help increase opportunities for our students!
It’s a GREAT day to be a Blackcat!

Happy School Resource Officer Day to Officer Banks!!! She is a true blessing to Mexia ISD. We are super grateful for her and all she does to protect our schools and teach our students about being good citizens. If you see her around, let her know how much you appreciate her.

Black History Celebration (Theme: African Americans and the Arts): Come enjoy food, art, history and performance on February 22, 2024 at 6PM in the Mexia High School Auditorium.

Good morning Blackcat family, we just wanted to let everyone know that one of our buses on county rd 427 pulled over to let a car pass and ended up getting stuck in a small ditch. There was no bus accident. There were no injuries and everyone involved was safe. Thanks to the excellent work of the MISD Transportation department, all students were quickly loaded onto another bus and transported to school so the stuck bus could be pulled back onto the pavement

February is Choose Love Awareness Month. Follow the this link ( https://5il.co/2eak1 ) for a month long calendar of MISD Choose Love activities. All MISD campuses are participating.
