On Sunday May 28th, Mrs. Shirley Lima, the event host for the regional chapter of Connecting Consciousness (CC), donated 109 backpacks to Mexia ISD for the upcoming 2023-24 school year. MISD is grateful for CC's kindness and consideration of our primary students.
Connecting Consciousness is a spiritual organization, connecting people worldwide in over 100 countries. The focus of CC is towards serving those around us, in our communities, in the workplace, in our schools, and neighborhoods. Service to others, rather than service to self, is one of the fundamental values of CC.

I am pleased to share with you that last night the MISD board of trustees approved a couple of new Blackcats for the 2023-2024 school year.
Mr. Marcus Wilson is returning home to MISD as the new Sims Intermediate Principal after serving as an Assistant Principal for many years in the Waco area.
Mrs. Belinda Cotton continues serving the students and staff of Mexia ISD and will be the new Assistant Principal for McBay Elementary.
Congratulations to both of these outstanding people! It's a great day to be a Blackcat!

Our Reading Language STAAR test will be on the following days:
6th Grade Reading Language Arts- April 25th
7th Grade Reading Language Arts- April 26th
8th Grade Reading Language Arts- April 27th
Reading Language Arts Make-Up Day will be held on April 28th
Please talk to your child about the importance of being well rested for testing and respectful to other testers in the testing environment.
The following items will not be allowed during your child's testing day:
No snacks (We will provide a snack and bottle of water for your child).
No backpacks (Not needed and creates clutter in the classroom on testing day).
No hoodies (Not allowed in the testing room).
