Exciting news coming to MISD ......

🚨🚨🚨 this Friday 🚨🚨🚨

Our MJH school counselors support the whole child every day—academically, socially, and emotionally. Their guidance, advocacy, and care make a lasting impact on our students and campus.
We are grateful for all you do for our Blackcats! 🐾🖤

💌❤️ Our Student Council is spreading the love!
This Valentine’s season, our Student Council is hard at work on a special community service project, creating smiles and sharing kindness beyond our campus walls. We are so proud of these students for leading with heart, service, and purpose.
Because at MJH, love looks like giving back.
#BlackcatPride #StudentCouncil #CommunityLove #ServingWithHeart

🔬 Our 8th graders turned into real-life scientists today!
Hands-on, minds-on learning as students explored Newton’s Laws of Motion—testing forces, motion, and cause & effect through experiments and teamwork. Learning like this builds curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence one experiment at a time.
We love seeing our kids ask questions, test ideas, and think like scientists. 🚀

🖤National School Counselor Week 🖤
This week, we are proud to recognize Mrs. Andrews, our Special Education School Counselor, during National School Counselor Week!
Mrs. Andrews is a powerful advocate for our students, ensuring they are supported academically, emotionally, and personally. She works tirelessly to build relationships, guide families, collaborate with staff, and meet students exactly where they are—always with patience, compassion, and purpose.
Her dedication to our Special Education students makes a lasting impact every single day, and MJH is better because of her heart for kids and commitment to doing what’s right.
Thank you, Mrs. Andrews, for being a voice, a guide, and a champion for our students. 🐾🖤

Ms. McGee is a constant source of support, encouragement, and guidance for our students and staff. Whether she’s helping students navigate academic challenges, supporting social-emotional growth, or simply being a caring presence on campus, she does it all with heart, compassion, and dedication.
Thank you, Ms. McGee, for loving our kids, advocating for them, and helping them see their potential—even on the hard days.

There will be no jr high boy's basketball game tomorrow . Ladycats will play Teague at home.
Huge shoutout to Coach Bates 🏅
In December, Coach represented our district at the TAHPERD Annual Conference, presenting a game Coach and her team created called Orb Ball. Orb Ball is a fast-paced, high-engagement game similar to handball and ultimate frisbee—but with a twist: the ball is propelled by a fan, making it both challenging and fun for students of all levels.
This year, Coach and her team presented both elementary and secondary sessions, and one of those presentations drew nearly 100 PE teachers from across Texas eager to learn and bring Orb Ball back to their campuses.
We are incredibly proud to see our coaches leading, innovating, and sharing best practices beyond our walls. Way to represent and continue pushing physical education forward! 💪🐾

Even though we’ve been out of school ❄️ and Ms. Collins has been a little under the weather, we couldn’t let another day go by without celebrating her! 🎉💐
Happy Birthday AND congratulations on being named Teacher of the Month! Ms. Collins truly teaches with heart, pushes her students to be their very best, and goes above and beyond every single day. On top of that, she pours her passion into coaching the MHS Cheer Squad, who are currently ranked #17 in the state—what an incredible accomplishment! 📣✨
We are so thankful for all you do, Ms. Collins. Wishing you a speedy recovery and a year full of blessings, success, and well-deserved celebrations! 💕🎂🏆

We will keep you posted of any changes ....

Mexia ISD administration has assessed road conditions this afternoon, while main roads throughout the city are thawing and look good, rural road conditions across the district are still hazardous, Mexia ISD campuses will remain closed on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Temperatures are expected to drop rapidly later this afternoon, causing slush to refreeze and create hazardous driving conditions on the rural roads that many travel. In addition, the Limestone County Office of Emergency Management is forecasting freezing fog in the morning.
We would like to extend a special thank you to all those braving the freezing temperatures each day to monitor our campuses and road conditions for everyone’s safety. Your dedication and work ethic are truly appreciated and do not go unnoticed.
Wednesday’s scheduled school board meeting, basketball, and soccer games will proceed as planned.
Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and continued support as we keep the safety of our students and staff our top priority.
