📣 OFFICIAL 2026 ACCOUNTABILITY RATINGS RELEASED 📣
Today, the Texas Education Agency officially released the 2026 A-F Accountability Ratings for school districts and campuses across the state.
The Texas A-F accountability system is designed to provide families and communities with a transparent measure of district and campus performance. Accountability ratings are one of several measures that help show how well schools are preparing students for the next grade level and for success beyond high school. Beginning today, families can view 2026 district and campus ratings and additional school information at TXschools.gov.

We are proud to share that Mexia ISD earned an overall rating of 76 (C) for 2026... up 10 points from a 66 (D) in 2025!

That growth represents far more than a change in a letter grade.
It represents students who grew.
Teachers who stayed committed.
Campus leaders who remained focused.
Teams who studied the data, adjusted instruction, supported students, and kept pushing forward.

And it provides meaningful evidence that Mexia ISD is moving in the right direction!

But behind every number is a story… and across Mexia ISD, those stories are stories of growth.

❤️🖤 McBay/Sims Elementary
2025: 59 (F) → 2026: 69 (D)
⬆️ 10-POINT GAIN
Principal Carolyn Cummings shared:
“I am most proud of the academic growth our students have made and the dedication of our teachers to student success. This growth reflects the hard work, collaboration, and belief of our students and staff. When we work together with a shared purpose and high expectations, our students can achieve great things.
As we move into 2026–2027, we will continue to meet students where they are academically and provide the instruction, support, and resources they need to grow. We recognize that social-emotional well-being is an important part of academic success. When students feel safe, supported, valued, and confident, they are better prepared to engage in learning, persevere through challenges, and reach their potential.
Our campus will remain focused on high-quality instruction, purposeful collaboration, data-informed decisions, and supporting the whole child. Aligned with ‘All Means All. Excellence Without Exception’ we believe every student matters and every student deserves the opportunity to succeed.
One Team. One Vision. 100% Blackcat Pride. Achieving Greatness Together.”

❤️🖤 Mexia Junior High
2025: 59 (F) → 2026: 76 (C)
⬆️ 17-POINT GAIN
Principal Amanda Wilson shared:
“We are excited to celebrate the release of our 2026 STAAR scores and our growth to a C accountability rating! This accomplishment reflects the hard work, determination, and commitment of our students and staff.
Last year, we focused on making student growth our priority—because every point of growth matters. These results show what is possible when we work together and believe in our students.
As we begin the new school year with All Grit. All Grind. All Blackcat., we will continue building on this momentum while staying committed to The Blackcat Way: doing what’s right, working together, taking care of business, and striving for excellence.”

❤️🖤 Mexia High School
2025: 76 (C) → 2026: 83 (B)
⬆️ 7-POINT GAIN
Principal Marcus Wilson shared:
“The goal for the 2025–26 school year was to earn a ‘B’ for Blackcats. We are proud to announce that through hard work and academic growth, the MHS staff and students accomplished a B rating, scoring an 83.
This momentum helps set the stage for this year, ‘The Year of the Mexia Blackcats,’ as we #RaiseTheBar with our sights set on being the first Mexia ISD campus to capture an A Rating. Help us in celebrating this huge milestone for our campus and join us in pushing forward to an epic 2026–27 school year.”

These results give us something important to celebrate, but they also give us something equally important to build upon!

We know there are still gaps to close.
We know there are students who need us to get even better.
And we know that one year of growth is not the finish line.

But today, we celebrate the undeniable progress of our students, staff, campuses, and community!
66 (D) → 76 (C).
Three campuses moving forward.
Hundreds of students demonstrating growth.
One district united around what comes next.
The work is working.
The momentum is real.
And we are just getting started.

ALL MEANS ALL.
Excellence Without Exception.
❤️🖤 Proud to be a Blackcat. Proud to be Mexia ISD.🖤❤️

At 5:00 p.m. yesterday, July 22, 2026 , ISCorp (Skyward) indicated some functionality had been restored, and troubleshooting continues. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will let you know when access has been reinstated for all users.

The service disruption is widespread. Many Skyward customers - including other local districts in our area are experiencing the same issues.

We are grateful for your patience. We share your anger and frustration. During this outage, our staff has not had access, which means we are not able to help with your login information as we too have been unable to process anything that requires Skyward.

Thank you for bearing with us through this situation.

Mexia ISD administration has assessed road conditions this afternoon, while main roads throughout the city are thawing and look good, rural road conditions across the district are still hazardous, Mexia ISD campuses will remain closed on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Temperatures are expected to drop rapidly later this afternoon, causing slush to refreeze and create hazardous driving conditions on the rural roads that many travel. In addition, the Limestone County Office of Emergency Management is forecasting freezing fog in the morning.
We would like to extend a special thank you to all those braving the freezing temperatures each day to monitor our campuses and road conditions for everyone’s safety. Your dedication and work ethic are truly appreciated and do not go unnoticed.
Wednesday’s scheduled school board meeting, basketball, and soccer games will proceed as planned.
Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and continued support as we keep the safety of our students and staff our top priority.

Good Afternoon MISD Stakeholders,
Mexia ISD is requesting your assistance with an important matter.
We have recently experienced several incidents involving spectator behavior at our student events. As a result of the incidents an official complaint has been filed with the University Interscholastic League (UIL) regarding these concerns. The UIL has been actively addressing issues related to ejections and confrontations involving spectators, players, school personnel, and officials of late.
As part of their efforts, the UIL has introduced a platform called The Texas Way, which emphasizes the importance of positive sportsmanship. I strongly encourage all of us to review this resource, as it provides valuable guidance on appropriate behavior at athletic events.
