🚨ATTN: BLACKCATS🚨
Thanks to our outstanding administration, all Mexia ISD students will receive free admission to the Junior High and Varsity games this week! Each student will receive a ticket from their campus on Wednesday. Students Grades K-5 will need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Pack the house this Thursday and Friday! #WEKAT

Congratulations to Mrs. Schaefer and the Mexia High School DECA Chapter for being awarded DECA District V Chapter of the month in September!
This recognition couldn’t be achieved without the support of our school, community, and business stakeholders. Our main focus for the month of September was our “School Supply Drive” for Teachers led by Estefani Luna and Kayleigh Young. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this great project. Many thanks to our local Walmart for allowing us to set up at their place of business and collect school supplies. Many teachers on the Mexia High School Campus benefited from this DECA Project.

Reminder: The last day to turn in Big Kahuna Fundraiser Packets is tomorrow, Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

Red Ribbon Week

R.Q. Sims' Picture Day from Lifetouch was scheduled for Tue, Oct. 17. Due to circumstances beyond our control, our Picture Day has been postponed for a later date. More information will be made available as it becomes available to our campus.
We apologize for any inconvenience.

Good morning Blackcats,
This is an FYI post. In the last few minutes some communication lines were cut during routine construction work near one of the schools. There is absolutely no safety concern but we wanted to alert you in the event you are unable to reach the school as some campus and district phone and internet lines are not working at this time.
Also as a reminder, Mexia ISD will be closed next week, October 9-13 for the fall break. Classes will resume on Monday, October 16th.

Homecoming week dress up days are in full swing!

Gifted & Talented Program Referrals (Due: October 13th)

Blackcats, mark your calendars for Homecoming Spirit week September 25th-29th!

This Friday, September 22, 2023 is the Battle of the River Community Pep Rally. The pep rally will begin at 1:00 pm at Blackcat Field. All parents and visitors will need to enter the stadium on the home side.

At Mexia ISD we are continually working to improve the quality of education for our students, to help do this we are engaging in a pilot program with ESC 12 and TEA known as Texas Strategic Leadership. Through this work we will be examining our district level systems, how they impact each campus, and ultimately determine what experiences our students are receiving. Better yet, what experiences we want them to receive as a result of what systems need to be strengthened, created, or removed as determined by this data and a process of strategic planning. As a parent, your input is vital to this process, and therefore we would like to invite you to complete this survey. All survey information is anonymous and will close on October 16, 2023

August Student & Staff Awards

Good Evening Blackcats,
Tonight, the Mexia ISD School Board approved a pay increase for all district employees for the 2023-2024 school year. The teacher pay increase is commensurate with years of service and ranges from $1,000-$3,200. All auxiliary employees including paraprofessionals, secretaries, bus drivers, custodians and cafeteria staff will receive a 3% increase in their hourly pay. Your efforts are definitely noticed, including all the hard work you put in behind the scenes, after hours, and on the weekends. Each of you are planting seeds in the minds of children that will produce a crop of knowledge that will be invaluable to them in life.
A HUGE thank you goes out to each of you for your service to Mexia ISD! Also, THANK YOU to the MISD Board of Trustees for recognizing your commitment to serving the students of our district!
It's a great day to be a Blackcat!!
