Mark your calendars! MLK Parade and Program!
On Jan 13, St Luke's United Methodist Church will host the annual MLK Jr Day Parade through Downtown Mexia. Afterwards, there will be a program at the Civic Center entitled "Shifting Priorities to Promote Unity and Justice".
The MHS Band will be performing as well as other organizations.
If you would like to be a part of the parade, please meet at the First United Methodist Church in Mexia at 10:00AM.
The Parade will start at 11:00 AM.
There is also an art and essay contest with cash prizes. See the graphics below for information. Entries are due Jan 7.

McBay Staff expesses their appreciation for their Christmas bonus checks.


The District 20-3A JH OAP competition was held on December 7 and Mexia finished with a third place plaque and medals. The company performed "The Girl in the White Pinafore" which tells the story of the New London School Explosion in 1937.
The student performance on competition day was brilliant. They told the story beautifully and were wonderful representatives of MISD, Mr. Scott Batts (theater director) is so proud of them!!!
Nimzy Canizales (8th) was an all-star crew member
Jazmin Herrera (8th) was named the honorable mention all star cast
Anna Quinones-Matheny (7th) was named to the all star cast

Mexia ISD Holiday Band Concert will take place on Thursday, December 7, 2023 in the High School Auditorium beginning at 6:30 pm. All instrumental musicians in the Mexia ISD band programs will perform in this concert. There will be two beginning bands, two Jr. High bands and one High School Band. It will be an extravaganza to delight all ages including music from the season to help kindle that Christmas Spirit. Everyone is invited to attend this festive occasion!

Attention ALL Mexia Area Veterans: You are invited to a Veterans' Day Breakfast & Program on Friday, November 10 at 8AM

In recognition of our future Veterans, we would like to HONOR those called to duty by sending care packages to our deployed MISD and local graduates. Serving as a small token of our appreciation and gratitude, the care packages are reflective of our mission to say THANK YOU to former students, and honor their service of selfless sacrifice.
We would like to invite you to participate in Operation Care Package. We are collecting donated care package items at the DC Campus. You may drop off items Monday – Friday during school hours. Additionally, I have enclosed a list of troop favorites. Lastly, we APPRECIATE you for your willingness to give and support our troops.

The T3 Family event will take place on Thursday, November 9th from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. central time in the Mexia High School library. This event will focus on literacy services and resources that can be used at home to support emergent bilingual students.
